Torres del Paine National Park Located in the XII region, Chilean Patagonia, was founded in 1959 and declared a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978, is renowned for its beautiful scenery, varied wildlife and excellent trekking trails. With an area of 242,242 hectares in the distinguished variety of flora that are grouped into 5 communities Patagonian steppe, Pre-Andean scrubland, deciduous Magellanic forest, Magellanic tundra, high altitude desert. About 25 species of mammals inhabit the interior of the park highlights including guanacos, huemules, pumas and foxes.
